Street Plaza
[
Rome, Georgia ]
A vacant warehouse and office building of
the Southern Pipe Company was retrofitted to have 11,000 square
feet of office space or retail use and an additional 18,000
sq. ft for storage. Lockers and showers are incorporated in
the public restrooms to accommodate those who jog or exercise
at lunch or after work.
Two wings from the front of the existing building were removed
to create more parking and green space and landscaped courtyards.
The repetitive use of circles and arches replicates palladian
windows and ties the plaza with the neighborhood which is
mostly residential. The entrance to the building is an arched
canopy making a striking image and adds height to the building.
