Anderson Park Recreation Center
[ Atlanta, Georgia ]
The recreation center was designed for use
by senior citizens, school children and neighborhood community
at large. The building was sited on a sloping hill to take
advantage of the slope fror providing gymnasium spectator
seats. It also helped to have a one storey look from the front.
The facility is handicap accessible. It has a gymnasium with
locker rooms and showers, arts and crafts room with kiln area,
mutli-purpose room, kitchen, administrative offices, general
storage, restrooms, vending area and trophy case display.
Multi-purpose room is used for senior citizen activities,
community meetings, games, meditation, lectures of community
interests. Split face concrete block is used in the exterior.
Natural light is provided from north and south only using
day-light saving techniques. Geometric colored murals are
painted in the interiors at strategic locations. The colors
used represent the team colors of the neighborhood.
