Peak
Executive retreat
[
Hong Kong, China ]
The site is known as ‘PEAK’ in
Hong Kong, an executive area, with breathtaking views of the
Kowloon Bay. The site is odd shaped and slopes from one side
to the other and from front to the back. Views of the Bay
and downtown Hong Kong determined the orientation & design
of various components of the building program. Land values
are at a premium price, thus the ground lost to building foot
print is recaptured as a roof terrace and a garden which connects
the three components of the building program. Massing of various
components creates voids for view of the bay from the street
level.
The building program called for executive’s families:
8 apartments having 3-bedrooms 3 baths, living dining and
kitchen. This component has its own secured entry, parking,
swimming pool, a shared dining room for parties and art and
sculpture court & terraces with a view of the bay. Second
component is fifteen one bedroom apartments with individual
kitchens. The grouping shall have terraces and sculpture courts.
* International Design Competition. The project was not executed.
